Johanne Defay has been a dark horse shaking up the tour from the start. As the lone French surfer on the women's World Surf League Tour, Johanne has struggled with sponsorship but not due to lack of performance. At the first event of the 2016 WSL season, Johanne Defay throws a nosepick reverse in her heat against 2015 Rookie of the Year Tatiana Weston-Webb, and pushes through to the semi finals.
