Besties Do it Better: Why Every Boarder Needs a Partner in Crime
A partner in crime - everyone wants one. Someone who likes doing the same things you do, and goes at it just as hard. When it comes to boardsports, besties are especially beneficial: they can teach you their bag of tricks, film you, encourage you, hold your beer when you attempt something crazy and drive you to the hospital when you don't land it.
And it's no coincidence that dynamic duos are ranking at the top of their game. Having another person to consistently ride with, train with, and progress with pushes you to become your best self. Besides that, it's a helluva lot more fun to have someone to laugh with when you fall, and celebrate when you accomplish a goal. Here are a few boarding besties that are undeniably killing it.
Jamie Anderson + Hannah Teter
Both of these ladies live in Lake Tahoe, are Olympic gold medalists and sponsored by GoPro, but their love for the outdoors, silly antics and snowboarding is what binds these two besties. They shred their local mountains together, skate the lake and get out on the water on a SUP on the regular. With Jamie on top for women's slopestyle and Hannah slaying the halfpipe these besties are snowboarding's sweethearts.
Allysha Bergado + Lizzie Armanto
These ladies of shred have been shaking up women's skateboarding for more than a few years. LA locals Allysha Bergado and Lizzie Armanto are versatile skaters - shredding pools, parks and vert ramps together while winning contest around the world.
Bianca Buitendag + Johanne Defay
Competing on the WSL Women's World Tour is no piece of cake - fierce competition and constantly being on the road away from home challenges the mind, body and spirit. Luckily besties Bianca and Johanne have each other to support. These ladies are the true definition of friendship, having each others' backs through the highs and lows, from Johanne almost having to leave the tour due to lack of sponsorship, to her recent win at the Fiji Pro. Bianca has had her best year yet after suffering an untimely loss in the family in 2015. Whatever happens, these besties are one for the books.
